It’s Women’s Month! For our first Humans of Cybersecurity PH, we are featuring Louise So-Layosa, IS Governance and Program Management Lead (Universal Bank), and her thoughts on being a woman in a male-dominated profession.

“In the cybersecurity domain, it’s no secret that it has historically been male-dominated. However, speaking from my experience, I’ve been fortunate not to encounter bias. From my perspective, men and women are treated fairly and equally in this field. However, awareness of the diverse domains one can pursue within cybersecurity was lacking in the past. It’s important to recognize that cybersecurity encompasses a broad range of roles and functions. Today, with increased awareness and considerable efforts by various organizations to promote cybersecurity for women, the rise in the number of women assuming cybersecurity roles has become evident.
Promoting cybersecurity among women means maintaining the perception that this profession isn’t gender-specific. As long as you’re willing to upgrade your skills and recognize that learning is a continuous process, which are innate qualities of women, then cybersecurity is the best profession for you.”
