Last Sep 13, 2023, Mozilla released security updates to resolve a critical zero-day vulnerability in Firefox and Thunderbird. Opening a malicious WebP image could lead to a heap buffer overflow in the content process.
WebP is a modern image for images on the web. The flaw could allow a remote attacker to perform an out-of-bounds memory write via a crafted HTML page.
It is recorded in CVE-2023-4863.
